A total of 310 projects from 28 countries competed for the awards, judged by a renowned jury of experts from Lego, Samsung, Adidas, Disneyland and Coca Cola. The representatives of the international trade press selected EventHorizon 2018, held in its second edition in Kraftwerk Berlin, as the best of 11 short-listed events, including events organized by Google, Mercedes, Cisco and Dell.
Kerstin Meisner, Press Jury President, praised EventHorizon’s futuristic approach:
“We are honoring the event with this prize that gave us a glimpse of what events will look like in the future; where technologies like AR or VR were not used just for the sake of using them, because they are currently in vogue. Rather, because the focus has been on people and the usage of technologies purposefully, only to enable personal experience and actually generate added value.”
Reacting to the award, Ewald Hesse, Grid Singularity CEO who conceptualized EventHorizon, explained that he wanted to “initiate a paradigm shift, taking event participants on a unique journey into the future of the energy industry.” Event Horizon has been organized in close partnership with the Energy Web Foundation, which has a mission to accelerate energy transition globally using a novel, blockchain technology.
Andreas Göltl, CEO of one of Grid Singularity’s service providers, Media Apparat, was elated to have been part of the winning team that included three small agencies as subcontractors in 2018, exclaiming “That we can take this award home in gold, makes us all even prouder.”
The event was first organized in 2017 at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna when it was awarded the Austrian Event Award and the Global Event Award. Next year’s event edition will again be in Kraftwerk Berlin, on 19-20 June 2019, creating a groundbreaking podium for the development of a customer-focused energy future based on renewables.
